MCBs and distribution: questions we are asked

Anything else, the sales desk answers on the phone the same day.

What is the difference between a B curve and a C curve MCB?

A B curve MCB trips at three to five times its rated current and suits lighting and household circuits. A C curve trips at five to ten times its rating, so it rides through the starting surge of motors, pumps and air conditioners without nuisance tripping.

What does 30 mA mean on an RCCB?

It is the leakage current at which the RCCB trips. 30 mA is the sensitivity used to protect people against electric shock; 100 mA and 300 mA units are used for equipment and fire protection.
